BURBANK — There is a digital clock perched in the window of coach Keith Knoop's football office that overlooks an outside walkway adjacent to the gym at Burroughs High.
The clock is running backward, counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds. Over the clock is a banner that reads "Paraclete." The clock is ticking off the time until the Indians open the 2013 season on the road against Paraclete.
Knoop put the clock there as a reminder for his players that they don't have a great deal of time left to prepare for the upcoming campaign.
"We put that clock up for the guys to realize that we might not have as much time as we think that we have to get ready, and to really send a message that we can't waste a day," Knoop said. "Teenagers, you know, think they have forever.
"After Paraclete, we'll just change the name to the next opponent that we'll face. That way every week they'll see that they're running out of time to get ready for the next team."
