Hollywood Way near Bob Hope Airport reopened after suspicious package cleared

July 29, 2013

Police on Monday reopened a section of Hollywood Way near Bob Hope Airport after a bomb squad cleared a suspicious package found at a nearby bank.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s bomb squad deemed the package found at Community Bank at 2800 North Hollywood Way safe, but no further details were immediately available.

Police officials had shut down the intersection of Hollywood Way and Winona Avenu for the investigation, forcing those traveling to the airport to use Sunland Boulevard or Buena Vista Street.

Hollywood Way was reopened shortly before noon, but Winona Avenue was to remain closed until the bomb squad removed its equipment, police said.

Operations at Bob Hope Airport were unaffected, said spokesman Victor Gill.

Staff writer Daniel Siegal contributed to this report.
