Burbank police want old prescription drugs

October 25, 2013

This Saturday, Burbank police, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, will host a drug take-back event in which they’ll collect expired or unwanted prescription drugs in an attempt to prevent medication abuse or accidental poisonings.

Last April, more than 742,000 pounds of prescription drugs were turned in at more than 5,800 sites across the country.

Police warn that flushing pills down the toilet and throwing them in the trash poses safety hazards.

Residents can drop off their prescription drugs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the parking lot behind the Burbank police station, 200 N. Third St.
