Vicki Miskimin has retired from the Burbank Police Department after almost 38 years and is settling into a more relaxed side of life.
In 1975, Miskimin applied for a job with the department and was interviewed by then Capts. Bob Heins and Don Tutich, who are both now deceased.
She began her career there as an intermediate clerk in the Records Bureau. Over the years, she worked in the Warrants Office, Juvenile Bureau and Detective Bureau. She was promoted to senior clerk in 2001 and moved to the COPS Bureau, where she worked until her retirement.
In the COPS Bureau, she was responsible for processing new employees. She worked with background investigators to process all of the reference inquiries, documentation and identification cards and was the first person new employees met.
Miskimin maintained all retired police personnel records. After an officer retired, she would process their retirement application with the city of Burbank, complete all paperwork required for their retirement badge and ensure their annual firearms certificates were up to date.
