Runaway horse near Los Angeles Equestrian Center injures six

December 28, 2013

A runaway horse was caught Saturday on a trial near the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank, though the incident ended up injuring six people, according to police.
All six victims -- three adults and three minors -- were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries, said Sgt. Jerry Misquez with the Burbank Police Department.

Misquez said the horse either escaped from a nearby stable or may have thrown a rider at about 11:50 a.m. on a trial which is in the unincorporated Los Angeles County and circles the equestrian center.

He said multiple units from the Burbank Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.

Burbank Fire Department Dispatcher Crystal Bartl said the units and personnel were on the scene for about an hour and a half.

John Chatney, repairs and maintenance manager for the Eeuestrian center, said he wasn't working on Saturday.
He did say that he learn the accident happened on the trail outside the center.
“Outside of that, I know nothing,” Chatney said.
