Roundup: Providence baseball starts season 2-0

Providence 17, Wildwood 6: Behind an 18-hit attack, the Pioneers improved their record to 2-0 with a nonleague victory Thursday night at Foy Park.

Sophomore Sean Holt led the offense with a four-for-five performance, including two doubles and three runs batted in. Holt also recorded the win on the mound with nine strikeouts in four innings.

Thomas Keller, Mason Inumerable and Harrison Pyros had three hits each.
The victory marks the first time in more than a decade the Pioneers have opened a season 2-0.


Saugus 7. Burroughs 0: The Centurions received a complete-game three-hitter from pitcher Chase Wheatcroft to turn back the host Indians in a nonleague game Thursday.

Aidan Anding, Max Haddad and Cameron Rodriguez had hits for Burroughs (0-2).

Loyola 15, Burbank 3: The Bulldogs evened their record at 1-1 with a nonleague loss Thursday against the Cubs at home.

Providence 10, Fairmont 1: The Pioneers opened their season in fine fashion Tuesday by notching a nonleague win at Brookhurst Park in Anaheim.

Thomas Keller pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts in seven innings, allowing only three singles and one unearned run.

Mason Inumerable led the offense with a two-for-four performance with one run batted in and two runs scored. Dante Cano and Marco Angrisani each had two RBI.

Providence 16, Holy Family 2: The Pioneers belted 10 hits in earning the win in their season opener Tuesday at Olive Park.

Fabi Jimenez went three for five for Providence. In the circle, Sierra Nelson surrendered just one earned run, struck out seven and walked two to pick up the win.

La Cañada 182, San Marino 209, Burroughs 207: The Indians finished third in the nonleague match Thursday at the La Cañada Country Club.

Burroughs was paced by Sivakorn Losakul, who shot a 37. The Indians also received 41s from Louis D'Aquila and Dylan McNeely, a 42 from Tnick Trivimol and Patrick Smith and Patrick Colbert shot 46s.

La Cañada 196, San Marino 209, Burroughs 230: The Indians were paced by a 43 from Daniel Kesicbasian in Tuesday’s nonleague match at De Bell Golf Club.

The other Burroughs scorers were Patrick Colbert (44), Tnick Trivimol (45), Dylan McNeely (48) and Sivakorn Losakul (50).

Providence in Providence Tournament: The Pioneers fell to Desert Christian, 16-25, 25-22, 15-13, and lost to St. Monica, 25-23, 25-22, Friday in their own event.
