“I’m always looking for a personal record and I was actually hoping to get 15-6,” said Schwartz, who bested his previous personal best mark of 14-8.
The win was the second of day for Schwartz, who also captured the high jump (5-10). Burroughs’ Corwin Scherer also was a double winner, taking the 110-meter (16.25) and 300 hurdles (40.39).
GIRLS’ TRACK AND FIELD
Burroughs in Pacific League tri-meet: The Indians split in a home league meet, defeating Muir, 92-40, while falling to Crescenta Valley, 93-43, on Wednesday afternoon.
The loss was the first for the Indians (3-1), who only notched four victories versus the Falcons.
Two of the victories came from Sarah Prystupa in the pole vault (9-6) and long jump (15-6).
“Right now it’s just about improvement and getting better,” Burroughs Coach John Peebles said.
Providence 9, New Community Jewish 6: Thomas Keller and Sean Holt were a combined seven for seven and combined to score five runs to spark host Providence in a Liberty League contest at Schafer Park on Wednesday.
Harrison Pyros and Dante Cano had three and two hits, respectively, to help the Pioneers improve to 7-3, 2-1 in league.
Holt earned the victory, striking out eight in six innings.
