We haven’t heard the last of Kimberly Jo To Kimberly Jo, I just wanted to take a minute to say I think you did a fantastic job of running for the Burbank City Council (“Precincts are sorted,” April 18). If it wasn’t for the thousands and thousands of advertising dollars thrown behind the three “good ol’ boys” who bested you by two local union political action committees, you would have easily made it into office. Quite a remarkable feat, indeed, young lady.

The City Council this week reversed a Permit Appeals Panel decision that would have forced the city’s top taxicab operator to cede ground to a competitor — instead granting G&S Transit Management 50 permits for a period of two years. By a 4 to 1 vote Tuesday, the council approved issuing the permits to the owners of City Cab, effectively shutting out United Taxi of the Southwest, which operates a fleet of 20 hybrid cabs, 15 of which service Bob Hope Airport. G&S management missed an application deadline that would have given the company and subsidiaries all of the city’s 120 permits.
