The Burbank Vikings Youth Tackle Football program’s Senior Black team is not exactly a squad filled with experienced players. In fact, 11 of the team’s 23 players had never played tackle football prior to this season. That level of inexperience usually sets a team up for a long, frustrating season, filled with losses and disappointment. Fortunately for the Vikings players, they had no idea they weren’t supposed to be successful this season. Instead, the squad of 13- and 14-year-olds has flourished, as the players have come together as a cohesive unit that has made a habit of winning.
