CAVALIER-AUSTIN Carrie E. Cavalier of Burbank and Mark E. Austin of Canyon Country were married at the Little White Chapel in Burbank. The Rev. Ronald Deggs officiated. The bride was so nervous that she accidentally placed the wedding ring on the groom's right hand instead of the left. One of the most endearing parts of the ceremony was when silver lockets were presented to the bride's children by the groom. Jennifer Lopez, the bride's sister, was the maid of honor.

Boasting first-rate production values and a terrific leading performance, the Falcon Theatre is hosting the world premiere of playwright David Landsberg’s “Surviving Sex.” Director Susan Morgenstern helms a relatively crisp production on designer Keith Mitchell’s sharply modular set, complete with a split-level coffee table the likes of which would have pleased architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Led by the side-splitting antics of Jeff Marlow playing Stan Cooper, a run-of-the-mill accountant whose sex life is a chaotic roller-coaster ride, this ribald, adult-themed production clips along quite nicely.

Couples married for 20- to 50-plus years say they keep the spark in their romance through communication, humor and patience. Marj and Bob Overstreet of Burbank were married Sept. 6, 1958, and are John Burroughs grads — he in 1955, she in 1957. They met on a double date. “His good sense of humor is what first attracted me to him,” Marj Overstreet said. “He seemed to know what he wanted in life.” Parents of three grown boys, the Overstreets say they have kept their marriage romantic by making private time a priority.

Does the free world really need another ?Friday the 13th? movie? That?s the question I asked myself as I entered my sold-out theater on a perfect night to see a scary movie. Since the slasher flick opened No. 1 at the box office, the terrifying answer is, yes. ?Friday the 13th? is a remake/revision of the 1980 film of the same name. This latest incarnation is a slickly made tribute to the original and the 1981 sequel. The new release tells the complete story of Jason Voorhees and his unfortunate drowning as a youth at Camp Crystal Lake.

Lynne and Max Schwalbe met on a Friday. Two days after the blind date they were engaged. “I wasn't going to let him get away,” Lynne laughed. They were married 42 years. The Schwalbes won their honeymoon, a 10-day trip to Boston and Cape Cod, on the game show “Queen for a Day” in 1954. They bought a house on Amherst Drive in 1969, and for 48 years Max sold insurance in Burbank as ethically as he could. If there was a better insurance deal out there, Max would tell you about it, even if he wasn't selling it. They divorced for five years but then Max came back to his beloved, and they remained together for another five and a half years in what Lynne calls their best times together.
