The National Charity League Burbank Chapter had its Annual Fashion Show and Awards event at The Castaway. The chairwomen were Ruby Aquino and Natalia Oliver. As the theme was "Voyage Around the World," the 11th- and 12th-grade Ticktockers modeled clothing representing more than 30 countries. Chapter President Jamie Reeves welcomed members and master of ceremonies and model instructor was Mae Ross from Macker Entertainment. Gina Chantland, chapter hours and charms chairwoman, awarded the following Ticktockers for volunteering throughout the year at the philanthropies they support.

Twelve young women, who are members of the Ticktocker Class of 2007 of Burbank Chapter of National Charity League, were honored for their volunteer achievements at the annual Senior Presentation at the Biltmore Hotel. During her years in NCL, Allyce Archie , daughter of Lee Gonsalves and Arcellious Archie , enjoyed working with children at events for philanthropies such as ChildShare and the Braille Institute. Jillian Bartels , daughter of Claire Mukri and Walt Bartels , enjoyed being class president and described the girls in the Class of 2007 as her second family, comforting and caring with lots of smiles.

Ryan Carter NORTHWEST DISTRICT -- Parishioners call him the "Master of the Keyboard." But Dick Smith says he's just got the knack for the ivories, whether it's playing gospel hymns on a 50-year-old church organ or toe-tapping tunes on a piano. Smith, 70, has been the organist at Victory Celebration Center, a local Burbank Christian church, for 16 years, but he's now bidding farewell to the congregation to lead the music of a senior citizen's Sunday ministry at a church in Northridge.

KAREN HUBBARD It was with great pride that Sophie Goodsell was introduced as a guest in attendance at the Rotary Noon Club meeting. Members were delighted to have her there on the day they made their foundation presentations. While Sophie's husband, Don, was alive he was an active member and he was instrumental in the formation of the Rotary Noon Foundation. Members can arrange to remember the Foundation in their estate planning, and others can make contributions to the foundation honoring their memory.

Cabrini Guild organizing luncheon The Cabrini Literary Guild will have its annual fund-raiser luncheon on Saturday, March 11, at the Hilton Glendale at 100 W. Glenoaks Blvd. Mary Wight, chairwoman, and her committee are planning a gourmet luncheon, entertainment, prizes and raffle. Tickets will be $45 and will include lunch and entertainmnt. Social hour begins at 11 a.m. with luncheon at noon. Terry Campbell is president. The theme is "ShowTime" featuring Andie Hicks, a former June Taylor dancer and prformer on Broadway in six major shows.

Joyce Rudolph They say square dancing and friendship go hand and hand. That was a common belief of both veterans and new members at the Western Weavers' graduation night June 9 at the Little White Chapel social hall. Pauline Long, a 1989 graduate, is chairwoman of the 2000 class. "There are just a lot of warm, warm, very, very friendly people," she said of the 100-member group. "One of the sayings is it's friendship set to music." Long met her fiance, Al Chamberlain of Burbank, at the club.
