Jonathan Paul Wilson, son of Michael and the late Susan Wilson of Burbank, has been named to the dean's list at Johns Hopkins University. He is majoring in computer science. Thanh Tran of Burbank has graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in management. Elliott E. Giles, son of Robert and Carolyn Giles of Burbank, has received the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of Troop 210, sponsored by the Elks Lodge 1492. For his Eagle Scout project, Giles did a rehabilitation of a tool and storage facility at Camp Lakota, Girl Scout facility in Frazier Park.

BRET V. OSBORN Bret V. Osborn, 43, died Oct. 15, 2003, in Burbank. He was born Aug. 31, 1960, in Burbank and was a lifelong resident. He worked for Burbank Water and Power for 22 years. Mr. Osborn is survived by his parents, Gary and Barbara; brother, Grant; grandmother, Mary Gleason; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles. A reception will follow at Elks Lodge, 2232 Hollywood Way. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Burbank Memorial Achievement Council, 1732 N. Ontario St., Burbank, CA 91505, or the donor's favorite charity.

Burbank Emblem Club #86 held its annual fashion show and luncheon, “Fall Fashions” on Oct. 15 at the Burbank Elks Lodge. “My Fair Lady” of Tarzana provided fashions and guests enjoyed cocktails and tri-tip for lunch. Guests included members of the Foothill Civitan Club, the Red Hatters, Burbank Beauties Club, the Patricians Travel Club and friends of the Elks and Emblem clubs. Co-chairs for the event included Elaine Paonessa, Barbara Maslyk, Bobbi Palmatary, Mary Hoffman and Lee Addessi.

CAROL I. PARDEE Carol I. Pardee, 79, died July 15, 2002, in Burbank. She was born in Long Branch, N.J., on Feb. 17, 1923, and lived in Burbank for 45 years. She worked as a secretary for the U.S. Army Signal Corp. Ms. Pardee is survived by her husband, Robert; her brother, Peter Grande; her sister, Elda Truglia; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Friday at St. Finbar Catholic Church in Burbank. Arrangements were handled by the Valley Funeral Home.

JAMES G. BOWERS James G. Bowers, 86, died July 10, 2003, in Burbank. He was born in New York and lived in Burbank for 30 years. Mr. Bowers was the owner of Bowers Radio & Television for 40 years. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was also a member of the American Legion of Frewsburg, N.Y. Mr. Bowers is survived by his wife, Mary; and several cousins and nephews. The service is at 9 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Hills, Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles.

EDWARD HEADINGTON Burbank Noon Rotary continues its steadfast pace and tradition of service. At a recent meeting, President George Mauney presented club member Rod Sannerman with an updated Rotary badge, signifying 34 years of service to the club. Alexis Sheehy was recognized for producing the weekly bulletin and Lisa Ann Rowe for finding interesting speakers for meetings. Sheehy also was asked to explain the new Student of the Month program and introduce the first recipient.

SERVICE CLUBS Burbank resident and Foothill Civitan Club member John Stroud has been chosen to serve as the California district governor for 2003-04. The term begins in October and to prepare, Stroud attended the Civitan In- ternational's Governors- elect Academy in Birmingham, Ala. Foothill Civitan Club meets at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. The first meeting is at the Tuttle Senior Center, 1731 Ontario St., and the second one is at The Castaway, 1250 Harvard Road.

EDWARD HEADINGTON The Burbank Noon Kiwanis Club recently honored several educators and students at its annual awards luncheon. Recipients of the Outstanding Educator Award were David Engel of Bret Harte Elementary School, Dorris Lang of Burbank High School, Kristine Chinn of Jefferson Elementary School, Nancy Arlington of John Muir Middle School, and Linda Nelson of Roosevelt Elementary School. The teachers were nominated from peers based on their teaching profess- ionalism and overall contributions to the school and community.

Supreme Emblem Club President Mary Clifford and Supreme Marshal Angela Roberge led the Installing Suite of Supreme Officers as the Burbank Emblem Club No. 86 officers were installed. Burbank Elks Lodge No. 1497, Exalted Ruler Greg Peale and Leading Knight Ken Pajan represented the Burbank Elks as honored guests.
