City Atty. treated after heart attack City Atty. Dennis Barlow suffered a minor heart attack after the Tuesday City Council meeting and will undergo necessary medical treatment, city officials said. ?He?s in good spirits,? said Mayor Gary Bric, who visited Barlow in the hospital this week. ?He said he felt good. Looked good.? Barlow was expected to remain in the hospital through Friday, but doctors have not provided a timeline for his return to City Hall, city spokesman Keith Sterling said.

CITY HALL ? The City Council on Monday is scheduled to replace Mayor Gary Bric and name a vice mayor as part of an annual reorganization. Bric, a restaurateur entering his fourth year on the council, is expected to cede the center seat on the dais to Vice Mayor Anja Reinke when the council votes to shift titles and responsibilities at its 10 a.m. reorganization meeting. Councilmen Dave Golonski, David Gordon and Jess Talamantes are all eligible to fill the seat, which all but guarantees an appointment to mayor in 2011, the city?

SENIOR CITIZEN SERVICES The council approved an agreement between the Los Angeles County Department of Community and Senior Citizen Services and the Area Agency on Aging to receive federal funds for the city’s Nutrition and Supportive Services. The city will receive $293,033, which will go toward providing about 104,000 home-delivered meals for senior citizens. VOTE: 5-0 ZONE TEXT AMENDMENT The council voted to eliminate grocery store development in the Rancho area on the heels of a cavalcade of supporters who voiced concerns that big grocery stores in the area are not wanted.

Laura Sturza Restaurant owner Gary Bric wants to serve more than meals to his customers -- the City Council candidate hopes to serve all of the city's residents as their elected official. Born and raised in Burbank, the owner of Gary Bric's Ramp -- named for its proximity to a Golden State (5) Freeway offramp -- said he aims to "listen to all the people of Burbank, to listen to their concerns." Bric will run against nine other hopefuls in the Feb. 25 primary election for one of two vacant council seats.

BURBANK ? City Manager Mike Flad on Thursday named Greg Hermann as interim director of the Community Development Department effective July 1. Hermann is expected to join the executive team as a permanent replacement for retiring director Sue Georgino since the city had opted to forgo the usual candidate search. Hermann has held several jobs in the department including associate planner, principal planner and assistant director for transportation. Recently his duties as chief assistant director have included overseeing the planning and transportation division.

BURBANK - Fire Chief Tracy Pansini, a 29-year veteran of the Burbank Fire Department, was placed on 60-day medical leave Monday, officials said. Battalion Chief Ray Krakowski has been tapped to serve as acting chief, Capt. Ron Bell said. City officials would not comment on the nature of the leave, citing the chief?s right to privacy. ?I?m mostly concerned about his health at this time, because before anything, Tracy is a friend,? Mayor Gary Bric said. ?I plan to reach him as soon as I can.?

I would like to congratulate Jess Talamantes and David Gordon for their victories on Tuesday night's general election. It was a hard-fought campaign and they deserved to win. I would also like to express my appreciation for David Golonski's 20 years of service to our city. Dave, you did a fine job. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the many voters who selected me as their candidate. You have my gratitude, from the bottom of my heart. Mayor Gary Bric on Tuesday joined a handful of veterans at Valley Funeral Home to commemorate the state’s first official “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.” The event featured a posting of the colors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burbank Post 8310. Veterans’ names were read with a wreath dedication in their honor. Bric’s brother was killed during the Vietnam War. Valley Funeral Home conducted a service to provide military honors to two veterans.
