Whom do you put first in your life? Is it a spouse? A boyfriend or girlfriend? Is it your children? God? Or is it possibly yourself? We can see where our values are by looking at where we spend our time ? and even money. We invest in what is important to us. Some examples are a mother who is devoted to taking care of children, a spouse, or both, to the detriment of her own needs; men and women who serve the church and God authentically; spouses who are faithful to one another; and, single individuals who are investing their time and energy into another.

Chaplain David Davis David Davis of Troop 199 of the Boy Scouts of America Verdugo Hills Council proudly stood at attention in the early Saturday morning sun as bugler Dillon Wiegand raised his horn to his lips and officially began the opening ceremonies of the organization’s inaugural Ten Commandments Hike. Following the presentation of the colors at McCambridge Park, Davis welcomed close to 200 registrants who were preparing for the four-mile trek that would pay homage to the moral imperatives that, according to Judeo- Christian tradition, were authored by God and given to Moses on Mount Sinai.

The Los Angeles Times recently ran a story about an atheist campaign in Britain in which a group has placed banners on public buses reading, ?There?s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.? The campaign, apparently, has proven popular in mostly secular Britain. In your line of spiritual work, do you often deal with atheists and nonbelievers, and how do you go about reconciling their beliefs with your own? ? I deal with atheists and people of different faiths on a surprisingly regular basis.

Regarding “In Theorist misses the mark yet again,” Mailbag, Saturday: Someone does need “a refresher course in American history regarding the ‘pilgrims’ and our ‘revolutionary forefathers,’” but it’s not the Rev. Bryan Griem. Rather, it’s the author of the letter to the editor, Cynthia Cavanaugh, who’s in need of a refresher course. Cavanaugh reflects as to “why our forefathers established a separation of church and state in our Constitution.
