“Macbeth,” as brought to us by Theatre Banshee in Burbank, is a thrilling, juicy tale of power, ambition, guilt and back-stabbing. Sounds like a season finale episode of “Dynasty” but it’s much, much more. This one has to do with kings and ancient Celtic supernatural lore. This one is written by a man commonly believed to be the world’s greatest dramatist. And this one features living, breathing, fighting, spitting actors. Ah, live Shakespeare done well!

Dink O'Neal Troubadour Theater Company has created another hilarious combination of Shakespeare and rock music with "Fleetwood Macbeth" at The Falcon Theatre in Burbank. In the same wacky vein of the company's critically acclaimed productions "Twelfth Dog Night" and "A Midsummer Saturday Night Fever's Dream," director Matt Walker and his Troubies have inserted some 1970s tunes from the group Fleetwood Mac into the bard's bloodiest of tragedies.

First-time independent filmmaker Joe Tyler Gold wrote a screenplay based on the “Macbeth” theater curse and then enlisted his friends to help make it into a film. On Tuesday, “Never Say Macbeth” will be released nationwide on DVD by Vanguard Quality Independent Cinema. “It’s been a long journey showing it at film festivals,” said Gold, who works at Angel City Data in Burbank, which develops databases for the entertainment industry.
