If you are not aware of the current global hysteria being spurred by a teenage female superstar named Miley Cyrus and her alter ego Hannah Montana, it?s most likely that you don?t have young children or you have willingly removed yourself from the barely escapable barrage of media madness. Those shielded from the avalanche will probably not be going to see the ?Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert? film. For the others, most likely parents of girls age 6 to 12, your peace of mind could lay in the hope that your daughter, just like Miley, could be the next big thing.

“Imagine Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers and everyone from the Disney Channel competing against iCarly, SpongeBob and everyone from Nickelodeon in a series of contests to see who’s the best. Things like the Over-Synthesized Lip Synch, the Wacky Spit-Take and the Caught-in-Awkward-Position-by-Parents Sprint. You hope your favorite wins, but it’s not so much about that as the fact that they all got together and even support each other; while winning is good, representing your channel and doing your best is what really matters.

If you want to know how bad the helicopter noise gets in Burbank, ask a horse. Residents in the Rancho neighborhood around the L.A. Equestrian Center are accustomed to the thwap-thwapping of the choppers that zip along the Ventura (134) Freeway on their way to wherever. In the eight months I lived near Pickwick Gardens, the window-rattling gong of the helicopter shook me to sleep and shook me awake. My former neighbors and I should all get over ourselves, some may say. One person did say as much in a letter to this newspaper last June.

Richard Nixon's helicopter once landed on the back lawn so the president could play a round at the nearby Lakeside Golf Club. Lucille Ball and Jack Benny drank and gossiped at the holiday parties in the living room. And the homeowner, Bob Hope, tried out punch lines on his kids in the dining room. For the first time since the long-lived entertainer built his home in a San Fernando Valley walnut grove in 1939, Hope's 5.16-acre Toluca Lake estate goes on the market Monday, at an asking price of $27.5 million, according to the Los Angeles Times .   The compound that Hope shared with his wife, Dolores, and their four children has a nearly 15,000-square-foot house, a golf hole, an indoor pool and a manicured rose garden.

If you have a daughter younger than 14, ?awesome? is the word she?ll probably use when the two of you are leaving the theater after watching ?Hannah Montana: the Movie.? If you are older than 21, ?juvenile? will probably be the word you pick. Say it politely so as not to interfere with the intellectual development and independent thinking skills of your child, because as dumb as most of the film may be, at least Disney has its heart in the right place. It?s hard to believe that a major teen idol like Hannah would have been able to hide her true identity as Miley for so many years.
