ALTRUSA INTERNATIONAL INSTALLS NEW OFFICERS Altrusa International of Glendale installed new officers for fiscal year 2008-09. Altrusa has been serving Glendale schools, libraries and the community for 54 years. The club recently provided computer math programs at an elementary school, specialized books for College View School and started a Glendale Community College scholarship for disabled students. The new officers are Roberta Hagopian , president, of Glendale; Barbara Winsor , vice president, of Burbank; Joan Nellis , treasurer, of La Crescenta; Betty Fogt , secretary, of Burbank; Donnalee Monninger , director, of Glendale; Janet Santiestevan , director, of La CaƱada Flintridge; Sandra Moore , director, of Monrovia; and Helen Jones , past president, of Glendale.

Free holiday wrap at Barnes & Noble MEDIA CITY CENTER -- This holiday season all gifts purchased at Barnes & Noble Booksellers include free Christmas or Hanukkah wrap on the premises. The complimentary gift-wrapping is provided by volunteers from the Burbank Public Library's Literacy Services and the Burbank Chapter of the National Charity League, who are accepting donations for their organizations. Store hours are 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Burbank Temporary Aid Center names its officers The Burbank Temporary Aid Center has named its officers for the fiscal year that started July 1. Michael Walbrecht was elected chairman of the board. Walbrecht is vice president for studio and production at Warner Bros. and chaired the center?s building committee during recent construction of its new facility. Journalist and actor Will Rogers was named vice chairman. Rogers chairs the center?s operations committee, which just completed an 18-month-long project crafting a policies and procedures manual for the agency.

KEMPKA Nicole Vanessa Ramos and Christopher Jason Kempka were married at Kahekili Beach in Maui, Hawaii, with the Rev. Laki Po'Maikai Ka'Humanu officiating. The bride wore her mother's wedding gown that was designed and made by her grandmother, who was a famous dress designer in the Philippines under the name of Rose Vale. At sunset, family and guests attended a reception at Lele in Lahaina, with a five-course epicurean meal, and music and dancing from four exotic Pacific Islands.

HOWARD -- PEMMAKITTI Noelle Michele Howard and Jack J. Pemmakitti exchanged vows under a 1,000-year-old tree overlooking Baron Lake in Lake Tahoe with the Rev. Denny J. Wiemer officiating. The bride and groom went fishing at Cave Rock following the ceremony. A reception was held at a later date at the home of the bride's sister and brother-in-law, Nicole and Matthew Kvarda of Burbank. The bride is the daughter of Thomas and Judith Howard of Burbank.
