Dink O'Neal, Enjoy! GLENDALE -- Aside from the advantage of transporting an audience to a variety of locales and situations, a collection of short plays affords both actors and directors the luxury of stretching their collective wings in one evening. Such is the case for the Glendale Community College Theatre Arts Department's "10 Minute Wonders." Tackling scripts of this length requires the recognition that each word, each sentence, has been carefully plotted by the authors for maximum effect.

Jose Ruiz Between the time Columbus landed on the Americas and the astronauts landed on the moon, there is the expedition of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark across the great land of this country. The anxiety and thundering of the heart with the excitement of the unfamiliar, and the humbling when faced with the grandeur of nature, have all been documented by these explorers, and the Colony Theatre brings author Leon Martell's vision of the Lewis and Clark Expedition depicting not so much what they found and saw, but how they felt and responded.

"Miami Vice" is based on the 1980s TV show of the same name but the two projects are very different. The original was bright, colorful and sprinkled with humor. The remake is dark, drab and painfully serious. If you're looking to go back in time for a fun night at the movies, you will be very disappointed. After a long week of work ? or, in my case, looking for work, my friend Charles and I were ready for a good time and our screening of "Miami Vice" was jam-packed with like-minded individuals.
