Gary Moskowitz BURBANK -- Parents, students and members of the community are invited to participate in the International Walk To School Day next month. Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary School will host the event, which will begin at 7:15 a.m. Oct. 2. Participants can also join the 8:15 a.m. group, and both the early group and late group can choose from four different starting points for the walk. The walk is designed to encourage people to be environmentally conscious, to talk to their neighbors, help protect neighborhoods from crime and be health conscious.

Ryan Carter MEDIA DISTRICT WEST -- A New Year's morning police stop escalated into a restaurant brawl, leaving one Burbank Police officer with stitches. Armondo Ibarra, 26, was arrested early Tuesday after allegedly punching Burbank Police Det. Chris Recina in the face during a restaurant confrontation. Police were responding to a call of fireworks in the area when the Los Angeles man was spotted outside Mo's Restaurant, 4301 Riverside Drive, holding a beer bottle, Burbank Police Sgt. Bill Taylor said.

Mayor?s Prayer Breakfast coming up The 2008 Burbank Mayor?s Prayer Breakfast will be from 7 to 8:30 a.m. May 8 at the Pickwick Banquet Center, located at 1001 Riverside Drive. The breakfast is the local version of the Annual Presidential Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., and is cosponsored by the Master?s Men of Burbank, Burbank Kiwanis, Burbank Noon Rotary, Burbank Sunrise Rotary and Magnolia Park Optimists. Host of greasy spoons was disappointing Not only is Burbank’s air polluted, Burbank now accrues “standard American diet” eateries to make sure its residents and visitors possess mementos of time spent in Burbank: indigestion and flab (“Fast food flying in near airport,” Wednesday). The standard American diet is typically a doughnut or muffin with coffee for breakfast, cheeseburger or sub, fries and soda for lunch, and steak and potatoes for dinner.

The Burbank High boys’ soccer program is looking for former players to take part in its alumni match. The event will take place at noon Dec. 8 at the school’s soccer field.
