MUSICIANS PERFORM WITH ORCHESTRA Local musicians will perform in the Pasadena Young Musicians Orchestra?s annual winter concert, ?Symphonic Dances? at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Pasadena City College?s Sexson Auditorium. They are Ian Elliott , horn, of Glendale; clarinetist Dong Jun Min of Montrose; Stella Cho of Montrose on viola; and Amanda Newman on trombone, of Burbank. On the program are works inspired by the world of dance, including Sergei Rachmaninov?

Gary Moskowitz HILLSIDE DISTRICT -- The Los Angeles Philharmonic will perform a free neighborhood concert in Burbank later this month. The group will perform at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at John Muir Middle School, 1111 N. Kenneth Road, in Burbank. The program will include the "Toy Symphony" by Leopold Mozart, father of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Symphony No. 1 by Sergei Prokofiev. Although the concert is free, those interested in attending are encouraged to call in advance to arrange their free tickets.

?Charlatan? at the Sidewalk Studio Theatre in Burbank is a perfect example of simple theater at its captivating best. It is the story of a compelling figure in Europe?s cultural history. Sergei Diaghilev, patron of the arts and founder of the Ballets Russes, the Russian Ballet company that took Paris by storm in 1909, was a passionate and emotionally driven man, fascinated by fame and beauty, sex and youth. Director, writer and veteran actor Tony Tanner brings Diaghilev to life with brilliant artistry.

Natasha Middleton's ballet studio and company are evolving in their second decade, but she said she stays true to her main philosophy - perpetuating the tradition of the Ballet Russe while training young dancers for the professional spotlight. Middleton is a third-generation ballet dancer. Her grandmother Elena Wortova danced with the Ballet Russe, a premier dance company that began in Paris in 1909, and her father Andrei Tremaine performed with the off-shoot company the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo.
