The Kiwanis Club of Burbank celebrated 83 years of community service at its ninth annual gala on July 15 at the Lakeside Golf Club. Familiar face and news anchor Paul Moyer of NBC News was an outstanding master of ceremonies and guided some 280 members, friends and grateful patients through the evening's program. Raul Mena and Christopher Rose , doctors at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, were the evening's honorees. The doctors have set the standard for cancer-patient treatment and community leadership for many years and they were driving forces behind bringing the new Roy and Patricia Disney Cancer Center to fruition.

We start the column this month with the best of all news. If you all remember, I took over this column in February because Annie Hova- nessian was expecting an addition to her family. Well I am so very pleased to tell you all that her ?addition? has arrived! His name is Aram Missak Hovanessian , and he came into this world at Glendale Memorial Hospital on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at 8:31 a.m., weighing 6 pounds, 10 ounces, and measuring 20 inches long. He is the cutest thing you ever saw. Congratulations to his proud parents, Annie and Vahe Hovanessian , who are elated with his arrival and enjoying every minute of it. ?
