MEMORIAL FIELD? Bellarmine-Jefferson football Coach Rolando Aguirre was not happy after his team?s 36-24 nonleague victory against Silver Valley on Saturday. The Trojans (0-5) weren?t in the game, at least not in the first half. Their second offensive possession resulted in a safety after Guards? Richard J. Won In the Bellarmine-Jefferson High's football team' loss the previous week at Malibu, the Guards failed to hit and make tackles. The Guards kept the game plan simple: Hit and tackle, and stop the run. The game plan worked -- very well. Silver Valley didn't score a rushing touchdown in the game, and it wasn't until the fourth quarter until it even found the end zone, as the Guards rolled to an easy 53-6 nonleague rout.

In its first road game of the season, Bell-Jeff travelled nearly 300 miles roundtrip to be beaten, 20-6, in a nonleague contest in Yermo. And while the Guards (2-1) might wish they could chalk up the defeat to a simple case of bus-lag, clearly there was more to it than that -- as Silver Valley (3-2)
