Each week I mine my brain for something witty or poignant to say to you here in my corner of your local newspaper. Some weeks are less inspired than others, I know, and for that I apologize. But I am always grateful when I hear from readers commenting on something I said, good, bad or indifferent. One such recent e-mail made me look at what I do with new sight. I don’t think I understood the responsibility that I have as a writer with a public voice and a view on life, until now. So this week, I am honored to step aside and share that e-mail with you. Dear Mr. Caneday, I wish I could state that I have been a longtime follower of “Small Wonders,” but the truth is it’s only been the last three or four months that I began reading your column.
