The Harbor has 10 square miles of navigable water and Waipio, Pearl City and Ford Island form its four lochs. The entrance to Pearl Harbor connects a virtually landlocked bay to the Pacific Ocean. The ship was one of many casualties from the deadly attack on the quiet Sunday morning that President Franklin Roosevelt called "a date which will live in infamy."
