Colony Theatre Company opens 'Cocktail Hour' BURBANK -- "The Cocktail Hour" by A.R. Gurney, produced by the Colony Theatre Company, opens Tuesday at Burbank Center Stage. Robert O'Reilly directs the cast of Ruth Crawford, David Carey Foster, Chip Heller and Sandra Kinder. It's a comedy about a playwright who visits his well-to-do family in upstate New York, and introduces them to his latest play during their ritual of the cocktail hour. Confronted by the bluntness of the play, his rather stuffy parents are further appalled when they learn the playwright has used them as models for his characters.
