In response to the recent rash of child abductions, Assemblyman Dario Frommer (D-Burbank) is hosting a free workshop to teach children in grades kindergarten through six how to protect themselves from being abducted. The workshop, in association with the Burbank Police Department, will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Ray Scence Room at the Burbank Family YMCA, 321 E. Magnolia Blvd. Families in the Burbank area are invited to bring their children to this workshop, which will be led by Burbank police officers.

Maya Kukes BURBANK -- Kindergarten registration for the 2002-2003 school year begins at most schools on May 1 and continues through May 31. Parents should call their neighborhood school for exact dates. Registration may be done during school hours at local elementary sites. To be eligible to register, a child must be 5 on or before December 2, 2002. Parents must bring the following to registration: a birth certificate or other birth record such as an official hospital certificate verifying the child's date of birth; proof of residency, such as a utility bill in the parent's name; and verification of immunizations for measles, polio, DPT, mumps, hepatitis B, chicken pox and proof of a Tuberculosis test given within the preceding year.

BEST BET All six award-winning choirs from John Burroughs High School will be singing and dancing to a variety of songs old and new at the annual pop show, "It's A Beautiful Night," to be held at the school, 1920 Clark Ave., at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.
