BURBANK — The United States Postal Service is studying the possibility of shuttering the Glenoaks Station Post Office at the end of the year and merging its operations with Burbank’s main postal station on Hollywood Way. The news comes less than one month after U.S. Postal Service officials announced plans to close the Magnolia Park Post Office at the end of the year. The decision to possibly halve the number of Burbank post offices, from four to two, is part of a cost-cutting measure, U.S. Postal Service spokesman Richard Maher said.

Jenna Bordelon MEDIA DISTRICT NORTH 3400 block of Hollywood Way: A 38-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, both of Burbank, were arrested at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The two men had argued with two boys about a paintball gun. The men allegedly chased the boys in a car and used part of a metal steering wheel lock to smash the rear taillight of their car. 1800 block of Keeler Street: Police are investigating a possible scam that led to the suspected theft of $345 that was sent by Western Union to Florida.

BURBANK — Despite thousands of signatures culled from neighborhood residents and business owners, the U.S. Postal Service is moving ahead with plans to shutter the Magnolia Park Post Office and studying whether to close the Glenoaks Station Post Office, officials said. While a final decision has yet to be made public, the Magnolia Park office at 3810 W. Magnolia Blvd. is expected to close its doors at the end of the year and move about 1.5 miles to 2140 N. Hollywood Way. The fate of Glenoaks Station Post Office at 1634 N. San Fernando Blvd.

A church-related unemployment support group in Massachusetts offers participants tips on writing resumes, developing new contacts and making ends meet. The group also prays, in an effort to “refine and strengthen their faith along the way.” How important do you see faith as a tool for motivation to seek employment? Do you teach members of your flock to use prayer or the Bible as a motivator when going out into the job pool? I believe faith can and should serve as a strong motivational force for those seeking employment.
